Intern Sierra holding a nest of baby Grey Squirrels

PHSS is now offering a unique internship opportunity for college students, recent graduates and high school students interested in native Florida wildlife with an emphasis on seabirds. There are positions available every semester. The specific start and end dates are flexible.

The internship will have a strong focus on natural history. Participants will learn to:

  • identify native species
  • set up age and species appropriate environments
  • choose, prepare and feed nutritious diets
  • assist with medical treatments

There may also be opportunities to observe surgeries and necropsies. While the main focus of the internship is animal care, interns may also participate in many of the other daily activities of a non-profit organization, including public education and fundraising events.
