Humberto & Rosario · Ambassador Box Turtles
Humberto and Rosario are both Florida Box Turtles that came to our clinic after suffering traumatic injuries to their shells. With extensive roadways and habitat fragmentation in Miami, no parks are large enough to sustain healthy box turtle populations leaving them displaced so we introduced them into our ambassador program. They have several jobs here at PHSS including teaching the community about their species and habitat loss through school and community presentations as well as during on-site tours.
They enjoy digging themselves up in the sand and munching on kale and crickets!
