Rossella DAllo, PhD · Environmental Education Coordinator
Rossella grew up in the mountains of a small town in northern Italy, where she was surrounded by wildlife and green landscapes. From a young age, she developed a profound love for animals and the natural world. This passion led her to pursue a bachelor's degree in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Ferrara, completing her final project thesis at Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain.
She continued her academic journey by earning an MS in Health Biology and a PhD in Earth, Life, and Environmental Sciences from the University of Bologna in Italy. She spent almost a year at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden as a visiting PhD student, where she was hired after completing the PhD. During her career as a scientist, her academic research focused extensively on environmental toxicology and the mechanisms of action of cancer.
In addition to research, Rossella also worked as a science teacher in Italy, sharing her expertise and enthusiasm for science with students.
Recently, she moved to Miami and is now thrilled to be working with wild animals as an Environmental Education Coordinator at Pelican Harbor Seabird Station. She has a strong passion for science communication and is dedicated to inspiring students and the community about the importance of preserving our natural environment.
In her free time, she loves reading, hiking, cycling, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
