Valerie Salazar - Intake Associate
I’ve been an avid animal lover for as long as I can remember, and my passion for wildlife has only grown over the years. From a young age, I’ve always found joy in observing and caring for animals. I am incredibly grateful to be part of a team dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of seabirds and other wildlife. Every day, I feel fortunate to work in an environment that allows me to directly contribute to the well-being of animals.
Beyond my work with Pelican Harbor, I am a passionate birder who loves to spend time outdoors, observing and identifying various species in their natural habitats. When I’m not out birding, I enjoy spending time at the beach, hiking, and traveling to new places, always in search of fresh perspectives and inspiration.
Music also holds a special place in my heart. I love playing the piano and find peace in the melodies that flow from the keys. In addition to my musical pursuits, I’m an avid collector of vinyl records, which adds a bit of nostalgia and warmth to my life.
At home, I’m lucky to share my life with two cats who bring endless joy and companionship. Whether I’m playing with them, or simply enjoying their company after a long day, they never fail to remind me of the simple pleasures in life.
All in all, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to combine my love for animals and nature in my work at Pelican Harbor Seabird Station. It’s a dream come true to be part of such an important cause, and I look forward to continuing my journey with this incredible organization, helping animals in need and contributing to the preservation of the beautiful creatures we share our world with.
