On Thursday, April 4th, 2024, we hosted our 45th Anniversary Pelican Party fundraising gala at The Rusty Pelican. Attended by over 250 donors, supporters, and friends, we are both proud and grateful to announce that together we raised over $140,000 for our wildlife rehabilitation and education programs.

"I really think of you as a partner to our work in Miami-Dade County," said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, prior to announcing a forthcoming allocation of $2 million dollars from the county's Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond program, a significant contribution towards the construction of PHSS's new wildlife and education center, and demonstrating our enduring partnership with Miami-Dade County. A tireless advocate for Miami's wildlife and environment, Mayor Levine Cava also recently granted $50,000 in operating funds towards Pelican Harbor.

Other esteemed guests included Betty and William Osceola of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, as well as members of the Deeks Foundation and Three Opinions Foundation.

We were also honored to present prestigious Pelican Awards to four key supporters, each of whom have been instrumental in the long-term success of Pelican Harbor’s mission.

At the conclusion of the event, Keynote Speaker Jeff Corwin delivered final remarks, reminding us of the unique importance of Florida's ecosystems, stating, “Not only by restoring this ecosystem does it protect the nature that we love, by restoring this ecosystem, in the end, it saves ourselves”.
